Membership Criteria
Fair Trade Group Nepal welcomes applications from legally registered organisations who comply with the ideals and principles of Fair Trade. To be eligible, the applicants must fulfil the following criteria:
- Adherence to Fair Trade Principles provided by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO).
- Has the mission of providing opportunities to the marginalised producers is clearly stated in organisational documents.
- Registered with the concerned government authority and must have completed three years of active operation.
- Provide employment to at least 10 staff/producers (including external producers), but Nepali citizens must account for 70% of the total staff/artisans/producers. Employment should be provided to economically, socially marginalised and underprivileged ethnic minority groups or physically challenged people.
- Employing not less than 3 persons as regular/active staff in organisational activities.
- a. Organisations engaged in producing, trading and marketing of handicrafts, agro-food, non-timber forest products and services that are not industrial products or b. Non trading organisations that work in social solidarity economy and broader social justice.
- The organisation should be 100% owned by a Nepali citizen.
- After receiving membership, members should adhere to the FTG Nepal Code of Practice.
- FTG executive committee reserves the right to reject any application.
