World Fair Trade Day 2023
The World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) is an initiative of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) that is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of May. It is an inclusive worldwide festival of events celebrating Fair Trade as a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty and exploitation, climate change and the economic crisis that have the greatest impact on the world’s most vulnerable populations.
FTGN has been joining thousands of producers and Fair Traders across the globe in celebrating this day with range of activities likes, rallies, exhibitions, interactions, talk programs in radio, schools and colleges to promote Fair Trade in Nepal.
This year, Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN) celebrated World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) 2023 in solidarity with Deep Prajwalan Program at Kathmandu Durbar Square in the evening of May 13, 2023. Over 300 from it's member organizations, representatives from Government offices, partner organizations, like-minded organizations, well-wishers and media participated in the event.
Mr. Leela Mani Paudyal, Former Chief Secretary of Government of Nepal and Former Ambassador of Nepal to China and current Patron of FTGN was the chief guest of the event.
This year, the WFTD was celebrated with the theme Reimagining the Economy: Regenerative Businesses for the Future highlighting the power that alternative businesses, like Fair Trade Enterprises, hold to effectively change the current unsustainable and unfair economic system. #BusinessRevolution #WorldFairTradeDay.
