Beautiful Coffee Nepal (BeaCoN) is a non-governmental organization established in 2014 as a resource center for coffee sub-sector development in Nepal with technical expertise in coffee production, processing and marketing. It is the only one of its kind in Nepal, established by experienced coffee related individuals including farmers and technical experts, all with the goal of developing the coffee commodity for the benefit of the coffee producer farmers. Thus, BeaCoN has the primary objective of uplifting the socio-economic condition of the small farmers in the mid-hills. Specifically, to benefit the coffee farmers through: coffee production in an environmentally friendly manner, maintaining the biodiversity and through institutionalized collection, and processing and marketing systems under the coffee producers’ cooperatives. BeaCoN is committed to developing the coffee sub-sector of Nepal in a sustainable manner. This is done through the increased production of organic coffee, improvement of quality of coffee, and an introduction of Fair Trade concepts in order to benefit smallholder coffee farmers organized into coffee producers’ groups and cooperatives. Presently, BeaCoN is working in several districts; Gulmi, Palpa, Syangja, Kaski, Sindhupalchok and Lalitpur in support of various organizations like Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Babonanum Korea, and European Union (EU) through Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal.
