Sana Hastakala
Sana Hastakala is a Fair Trade, non-profit organization that was established in 1989. The organization is dedicated to increasing the income of neglected handicraft workers through the revival of traditional handicraft techniques as well as the development of new skills and product ideas. The producers’ network consists of over 65 groups representing 1,200 artisans from different districts of Nepal.
The earnings from sales are used for the producers’ development programs, staff welfare, community development activities and organizational strengthening. Sana Hastakala provides assistance with sales, project development and training. Financial assistance is also provided for the purchase of necessary capital goods, raw materials, health checkups, product development and promotional activities. The major products are knitwear, ceramics, pashminas, felt, mithila, singing bowls, home textiles, garments, filigree and bags.
