Tibetan Handicrafts and Paper (THP) is a private organization established in 2006 situated in Kathmandu. It is a major manufacturer and exporter of Nepali Handmade Lokta paper and items. It was built with a dream to make a superior Nepal, one that takes care of the requests of universal buyers whilst simultaneously supporting the poor with a source of income, empowering them and supporting their Himalayan traditions and culture. THP accomplishes this goal by offering their clients the best quality Nepali Lokta paper items at reasonable cost with a guarantee of consumer satisfaction. Currently, THP employs approximately 80 full time staff of which 80% are women, some of whom are handicapped and/or single. Additionally, THP supports their staff’s children with free education services up to grade 10. This is possible with the assistance of their sister organization: Samten Memorial Education Academy, who also provides free education to 100 additionally needy students from various parts of Nepal.
