United Nepal Felt Industries Pvt. Ltd. (UNFI) was established in 2007. It is one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of high quality handicraft products all over the world, manufacturing several different wool and felt products of high quality and unique designs. Currently, it is exporting products such as hats, shoes, bags, home decor items and Christmas accessories. It specializes in manufacturing and exporting Nepali woolen and felt hats and caps. Its products are exported to Switzerland, Japan, Australia, Germany, UK and Korea. As a fair-trade business, UNFI focuses on providing opportunities to the women of their organization, who all have handicraft skills and want to financially support their family. UNFI provides employment to 170 women workers, of which 20 are full time employees. These women are often from underprivileged and marginalized societies in Nepal. Through working with UNFI, these artistic and creative artisans may uplift their economic and social conditions and status.
